Positive Heegaard diagrams, i.e. Heegaard diagrams for which curves from each set are oriented and at each intersection point of two sets \(A\), \(B\), the vectors \(\partial A\), \(\partial B\) generate the positive orientation of the surfaces, were introduced by Montesinos, for they have a nice combinatorial encoding. Thus, each manifold has a positive Heegaard genus, which, in general, is greater than the usual Heegaard genus. The author studies the relation between these two genera for Seifert fibered spaces and proves that in this case they almost always coincide.
