The authors studied the Riemann problem for \(p\)-systems of mixed type that defines two hyperbolic phases with a stress function satisfying general genuinely nonlinear hypotheses. The global Riemann solvers are described, which are continuous for positive distance with respect to initial data and conserve the symmetry property of the \(p\)-system. The Riemann solvers can be used to select a manifold of subsonic phase transitions and a corresponding set of supersonic phase transitions.
