It was shown by \textit{G. Lusztig} [ Isr. Math. Conf. Proc. 7, 117--132 (1993; Zbl 0948.17501)]{} that certain cones in \(\mathbb{N}^k\) give rise to canonical basis elements for low rank. The author shows that when spanning vectors of these cones are regarded as monomials in Kashiwara's root operators, they can be described using a ``rectangle combinatorics'' due to R. W. Carter. He then uses this to calculate the Lusztig parameters of the corresponding canonical basis elements.
