In [Philos. Trans. R. Soc. Lond. Ser. A Math. Phys. Eng. Sci. A359, no. 1784, 1375-1387 (2001)] M. Atiyah introduced a certain matrix that can be associated to any configuration of \(n\) distinct points in Euclidean three-space, conjectured that it cannot be singular, and proved this conjecture for the case \(n=3\). The authors of the present paper prove this conjecture for \(n=4\) by an elaborate Maple-assisted computation of the determinant in question.
