A new kind of parametrization of arbitrary cotetrads has been used by the authors in order to obtain a new version of tetrad gravity. This parametrization is used to define a set of configurational variables for the ADM metric action. The authors start with a brief review of the kinematical framework for tetrad gravity. Afterwards, they introduce a new parametrization of arbitrary cotetrades in terms of lapse and shift functions, of cotriads on the Cauchy surfaces and of three boots parameters. This parametrization is shown to give rise to a new Lagrangian for tetrad gravity. The corresponding Hamiltonian formalism is studied which results in ten primary and four secondary class constraints. The constraint algebra is discussed in some detail. Also a comparison with other formulations of tetrad gravity is given.
