The authors give a complete characterization of the polynomial maps \(f:\mathbb{R}^n\to\mathbb{R}\) which are uniformly approachable. They coincide with the polynomial maps \(f\) with distant fibers, i.e. such that any two distinct fibers \(f^{-1}(x)\) and \(f^{-1}(y)\) are at positive distance. In the article it is also shown that continuous real functions with distant fibers on a uniformly locally connected metric space are uniformly approachable. Moreover, the authors observe that the uniform continuity of bounded continuous real functions \(f\) on connected and locally connected metric space \(X\) depends only on the fibers of \(f\).
