This paper establishes a relation \(Sq^{2^r} Sq^{2^s}Sq^{2^t} K_{2^r-2}= Sq^{2^s} Sq^{2^t}K_{2^{r+1}-2}\) for \(r>s >t\geq 0\) where \(K_{2^r-2}\in H^{2^r-2} (F/0;Z_2)\) is the smooth Kervaire class. As an application, it is stated that the connected sum of \(RP^{4k+1}\) and a Kervaire homotopy sphere that bounds a framed manifold of Kervaire invariant one is not diffeomorphic to the projective space.
