Determinants of period matrices and an application to Selberg's multidimensional beta integral (Q696826): Difference between revisions

This paper presents elementary proofs of some remarkable determinant formulas, such as the formula for the determinant of the hypergeometric period matrices obtained by Varchenko in his study of hyperplane configurations. See \textit{A. Varchenko} [Math. USSR, Izv. 36, No. 1, 155-167 (1991); translation from Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 54, No. 1, 146-158 (1990; Zbl 0709.33002) and Math. USSR, Izv. 35, No. 3, 543-571 (1990); translation from Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 53, No. 6, 1206-1235 (1989; Zbl 0709.33001)]. As an application, the authors give new methods for the evaluation of Selberg's and Aomoto's beta integrals. Some variations on Varchenko's determinant formulas are proven and an extension of the formula for the determinant of the period matrices is conjectured.
