This paper deals with partitioned matrices and some kinds of generalized inverses. Necessary and sufficient conditions such that inner, outer, reflexive, least square and minimum norm generalized inverses and also the Moore-Penrose inverse can be expressed in the Banachiewicz-Schur form are found. Some results given by \textit{G. Marsaglia} and \textit{G. P. H. Styan} [Sankhya Ser. A 36, 437-442 (1974; Zbl 0309.15002)]have been improved.
