The authors generalize the notion of an integral linear map between Banach spaces. They introduce integral multilinear maps and integral polynomials, and they show that a polynomial is integral if and only if its associated symmetric multilinear map is integral, and that a multilinear map is integral if and only if the natural associated linear map defined on the algebraic tensor product of the spaces extends to an integral linear map on their injective tensor product. They introduce also the notion of an \(r\)-dominated polynomial, which generalizes the notion of an \(r\)-absolutely summing operator. Their main result is that a Banach space \(E\) is an \({\mathcal L}_\infty\)-space if and only if every \(1\)-dominated \(m\)-homogeneous polynomial on \(E\) is integral; this extends the result for linear operators due to \textit{C. Stegall} and \textit{J. Retherford} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 163, 457-492 (1972; Zbl 0205.43003)].
