The problem of stabilization of an unknown nonlinear system is addressed. Based on a fuzzy system, the stabilization is performed using a supervisory controller. A sufficient condition for the stability of the closed-loop system is given and used in order to derive an optimal stabilizing controller using genetic algorithms.
