Let \(A\) denote the semilocal ring of the affine line \({\mathbb A}^1_K\) at \(\{0,1\}, K\) being a field. Let \(G\) be a finite constant \(K\)-group scheme. Two \(G\)-torsors \(X\) and \(Y\) on Spec \(K\) are called elementarily R-equivalent if there is a \(G\)-torsor on Spec \(A\) inducing (upto isomorphism) \(X\) and \(Y\) at \(0\) and \(1\) respectively. The equivalence relation generated by elementary R-equivalence on the set of \(G\)-torsors (as well as \(H^1(K,G)\)) is called R-equivalence. Let \(R(K,G) \subset H^1(K,G)\) consist of classes R-equivalent to the trivial torsor. For a Galois extension \(M\) of \(K\), denote by \(H^1(M/K,G)\) the subset of \(H^1(K,G)\) consisting of torsors trivialized by \(M\). The author gives sufficient conditions for \(H^1(M/K,G)\) to be contained in \(R(K,G)\). In case \(K\) is the quotient field of an henselian discrete valuation ring, criteria for \(R(K,G) = H^1(K,G)\) are deduced.
