The existence of positive solutions to the classical Gelfand model is considered, where the coefficient of the nonlinear term is allowed to change sign in \([0,1]\). By using a monotone iterative technique, an existence theorem on positive solutions is obtained, and the corresponding iterative process and convergence rate are given. This iterative process starts from zero function, hence, the process is simple, feasible and effective.
