    The authors continue to study compressible Navier-Stokes equations \[ \rho_t + \rho^2 u_x =0, \quad u_t + P(\rho)_x = (\mu \rho u_x)_x,\quad 0<x<1,\quad t>0, \] where \(P(\rho)=\rho^{\gamma}\), \(\mu = \rho^{\theta}\), with zero boundary data and initial data for \(\rho\) and \(u\). Global existence of weak solutions is established in the case \(0<\theta<1/3\). The uniqueness of the solution is proven when \(0<\theta<1-\sqrt{6}/3\). For Part I, see Commun. Math. Phys. 230, 329-363 (2002; Zbl 1045.76038).
