This paper studies the control, observation and polynomial decay for a system composed of a wave and a heat equation in two bounded intervals, with a transmission condition at the interface point. Some optimal results of control and observation when the control acts on the boundary of the domains are obtained, and the polynomial decreasing of smooth solutions is shown. The proof uses energy estimates on the boundary, Carleman inequalities, spectral analysis and generalized inequalities of Ingham type.
