Curvature properties of the positively curved Eschenburg spaces. (Q1422030): Difference between revisions

The Eschenburg spaces here discussed are homogeneous and admit metrics of strictly positive curvature. The present author enlarges this class of metrics considerably by constructing an explicit family depending on four parameters. The construction uses Cheeger's method of deforming a metric on a Lie group. A smaller class of metrics with pinching constant above \(1/37\) is then discussed and the Eschenburg space with pinching constant exactly \(1/37\) is \(W_{1,1}\).
