Riemannian metrics provided by geodetic problems on the affine group are studied with a special view towards metrics invariant under left or right translations under elements of the total affine group or some of its geometrically distinguished subgroups. Lagrangian and corresponding Hamiltonian systems are also analysed with kinetic term induced by these Riemannian structures and velocity-free potential.
