The authors perform an observability analysis of an unsaturated induction motor model without sensors. The set of indistiguishable trajectories is characterized by the solutions of a system of differential algebraic equations and equivalently of a system of differential equations on a manifold. These characterizations are used in order to give conditions for observability and the existence of observers.
