Given a continuous-time control system with linear dynamics and outputs being linear projections, the problem is the selection of active controls for the design of state observers. Here, the dependence of the observer on the control is studied. Some theoretical results concerning the convergence of the observer are given. The nonlinear case is discussed then by means of an example.
