Let \(\mathcal {DCAT}\) be the category of small differential graded \(k\)-category for a commutative ring \(k\). In earlier work, \textit{M. Hovey} [``Model categories'', Math. Surv. Monogr. 63 (1999; Zbl 0909.55001)] gives a criterion for a category having a Quillen model structure. The author verifies this criterion for \(\mathcal {DCAT}\). A consequence is then that the weak equivalences of the model structure are the quasi-equivalences of the dg-category. The paper gives full proofs in the context of the cited work.
