This paper is concerned with the error term \(R_{n,s}(f)\) in the Gauss-Turán quadrature formula \[ \int _{-1}^1 w(t)f(t)dt=\sum _{v=1}^n \sum _{i=0}^{2v}A_{i,v}f^{(i)}(\tau _v)+R_{n,s}(f), \] where \(w\) is an integrable weight function on the interval \((-1,1)\).The authors study firstly the case of a certain wide class of weight functions. Here, the remainder is presented in the form of contour integral over confocal ellipses or circles. Then, a strong error analysis is given for a generalized class of weight functions introduced by \textit{L. Gori and C. A. Micchelli} [Math. Comp. 69, 1587-1581 (1996; Zbl 0853.65027)]. Interesting examples are given.
