A linear relation in a linear space is a generalisation of the idea of singlevalued linear operator to that of multivalued operator; it has proved to be useful in several different contexts. In the paper under review the structure of a linear relation is investigated, particularly in the case of the Euclidean space \({\mathbb C} ^n\), by means of its eigenvalues. The main result is that a linear relation in a Euclidean space admits an orthogonal sum decomposition in three particular kinds of linear relations, namely Jordan relations, completely singular relations and multishifts.
