From the text: Flag varieties \(G/B\) (resp. \(G/P\)) play a significant role in soliton theory, where \(G\) is an affine Kac-Moody group and \(B\) (resp. \(P\)) is its Borel (resp. parabolic) subgroup. The author is interested in the connection of affine flag varieties and geometric crystals. For this purpose, he extends the theory of geometric/unipotent crystals [\textit{A. Berenstein} and \textit{D. Kazhdan}, Geometric and unipotent crystals. GAFA 2000 (Tel Aviv, 1999), Geom. Funct. Anal. 2000, Special Volume, Part I, 188--236 (2000; Zbl 1044.17006)] to the Kac-Moody setting. Define geometric/unipotent crystals on Schubert cells/varieties associated with Kac-Moody groups. The author considers some `positive structures' on them, and then shows that some ultra-discretizations of the geometric crystals on Schubert varieties are isomorphic to tensor products of certain Kashiwara's crystals. These results are simple generalizations of the results in [Berenstein and Kazhdan (loc. cit.)] for the reductive setting to the KacMoody setting. Thus, in order to show the validity of the extension to the Kac-Moody setting, he presents an interesting example for the affine \(\widehat{{\mathfrak{sl}}}_2\)-case by showing that some geometric crystals on affine Schubert cells/varieties are related to ``perfect crystals''. They are affine crystals associated with quantum affine algebras and play an important role in studying vertex type solvable lattice models. There exists some ``limit'' of perfect crystals denoted by \(B_\infty\) and it is shown that an ultra-discretization of certain geometric crystal on affine Schubert varieties coincides with this \(B_\infty\) for \(\widehat{{\mathfrak{sl}}}_2\)-case.
