Given an arbitrary field \(F\) and let \(V\) be an \(n\)-dimensional vector space over \(F\), a transformation \(\phi\) on \(V\) partly preserves a nonsingular bilinear function \(f\) on \(V\) if there exists a basis \(\{e_1,\ldots,e_n\}\) of \(V\) and a map \(\pi\colon \{e_1,\ldots,e_n\}\rightarrow V\) such that \(f(\alpha,e_j)=f(\phi(\alpha),\pi(e_j))\) for all \(\alpha \in V\) and all \(j=1,\ldots,n\). It is proven that a transformation \(\phi\) of \(V\) is an invertible linear transformation if and only if \(\phi\) is partly preserving a nonsingular bilinear function on \(V\). Preservers of other type (determinant, trace) are also considered.
