The author demonstrates via numerical simulations that a hyperchaotic autonomous nonlinear system can still exhibit hyperchaotic behaviour when its order becomes fractional. The fractional dynamical equations of the system are numerically simulated using the Grünwald-Letnikov algorithm for fractional derivatives. Hyperchaos is assessed via Lyapunov spectrum. The presence of more than one positive Lyapunov exponent indicates hyperchaos. For the particular system under study, changing the control parameters is done via changing the gains of the amplifiers.
