A system of fuzzy measures (normed monotone set functions on the power set of a finite space \(X\) vanishing in the empty set) is called an ideal whenever it is convex and closed under standard product of set functions. Some basic families of fuzzy sets are shown to be ideals and further investigated. For example, belief (\(\infty\)-monotone) fuzzy measures form an ideal generated by the system of all probability measures on \(X\) (note that this result can be obtained directly from the Möbius transform representation of belief fuzzy measures). Another example of ideals of fuzzy measures are, e.g., the system of all 2-monotone fuzzy measures and the system of all lower probabilities.
