The paper deals with the characterization of quasi-homogeneity of an isolated hypersurface singularity in terms of local cohomology. In more details, a (holomorphic) hypersurface-germ \((f(x)=0)\subset(\mathbb{C}^n,0)\) is called quasi-homogeneous if there exists a holomorphic change of coordinates in \((\mathbb{C}^n,0)\), such that \(f\) becomes quasi-homogeneous. Among classical characterizations of quasi-homogeneity are: \(f\) is quasi-homogeneous iff it belongs to its Jacobi ideal. \(f\) (with isolated singularity) is quasi-homogeneous iff its Milnor \((\mu)\) and Tjurina \((\tau)\) numbers are equal. The authors derive a new characterization by considering \(\mathcal{D}\)-module properties of algebraic local cohomology. The condition is in terms of a local cohomology class (that generates the dual space of Milnor algebra) and the associated holonomic system of first order differential equations.
