This paper generalizes the Deligne-Mostow theory on Lauricella functions [\textit{P. Deligne, D.G. Mostow}, ``Commensurabilities among lattices in \(PU(1,n)\)'', Ann. Math. Stud. 132 (Princeton University Press) (1993; Zbl 0826.22011)] and the work of \textit{G. Barthel}, \textit{F. Hirzebruch} and \textit{T. Höfer} [``Geradenkonfigurationen und algebraische Flächen'' (1987; Zbl 0645.14016)] on uniformizations of the projective plane branched along linear arrangements, which yield new examples of discrete finite covolume groups acting on a complex ball. As a by-product, the authors provide a uniform approach to Orlik-Solomon's work on complex reflection groups with isomorphic discriminants. The authors mention that some of these lattices admit modular interpretations but give no further details, leaving this question open for future research. Instead of hypergeometric integrals as in the DM theory or planar arrangements as in the BHH monograph, the point of departure of this article is a Dunkl system \((V, {\mathcal H}, \kappa)\), a triple of an inner product space \(V\), a linear arrangement \({\mathcal H}\) and a weight map \(\kappa:{\mathcal H}\to {\mathbb R}_{>0}\) which induce an affine structure on the complement \(V^\circ:=V \backslash \bigcup_{H\in \mathcal H}H\); equivalently \(\kappa\) renders flat a certain connection \(\nabla^\kappa\) defined on the tangent bundle of \(V^\circ\). The most interesting Dunkl systems are those coming from reflection groups: If \({\mathcal H}\) is the set of reflection hyperplanes of an irreducible unitary complex reflection group \(G\) acting on a complex inner product space \(V\) then \((V, {\mathcal H}, \kappa)\) is a Dunkl system if \(\kappa\) is constant on \(G\)-orbits. For values of \(\text{ dim}(V)^{-1} \sum_{H\in \mathcal H}\kappa(H)\) lying in a certain interval \([1, m_{\text{ hyp}}]\) there exists a \(\nabla_\kappa\)-flat hermitian form on \(V^\circ\) which endows \({\mathbb P}(V^\circ)\) with a geometric structure modeled on a complex hyperbolic space. At this point the authors find out the corresponding Schwartz (discreteness) conditions, generalizing Mostow's half-integrality conditions and prove that the lattices related to real reflection groups are all arithmetic.
