The authors give an \(L_p\) error estimate for the approximate solution of a one-dimensional Hammerstein integral equation by a degenerate kernel method. A similar result has been proved by \textit{A. A. M. Abou El-seoud, M. M. El-Kady} and \textit{M. A. El-Ameen} [Appl. Math. Comput. 140, No. 1, 91--104 (2003; Zbl 1031.65147)]. The paper concludes with a numerical example. Reviewer's remark: Regardless of its mathematical content, the paper is hardly readable without some of the cited references.
