    Consider the non-autonomous anisotropic integral functional of the form: \[ F(u,\Omega)= \int_{\Omega}f(x,Du) \,dx \] where \(\Omega \subset \mathbb R^n\) is a bounded domain and assume that \(f\) is sufficiently smooth and there exists positive constants \(\lambda\), \(\Lambda\) and \(C\) such that for any \( x \in \overline \Omega\) and \(U, P \in \mathbb R^{nN}\) \[ \begin{aligned} \lambda(1+| P| ^2)^{\frac{p-2}{2}}| U| ^2 &\leq D^2_P f(x,P)(U,U) \leq \Lambda(1+| P| ^2)^ {\frac{q-2}{2}}| U| ^2,\\ | D_xD_P f(x,P)| &\leq C (1+| P| ^2)^{\frac{q-1}{2}}. \end{aligned} \] When \(q<p\frac{n+1}{n}\), the authors prove regularity results for the local minimizers \(u\) of \(F\) which are in \(W^{1,q}_{\text{loc}}\). More precisely, when \(N>1\) there exists an open subset \(\Omega_0 \subset \Omega\) such that \(| \Omega_0 - \Omega| =0\) and \(u \in C^{1,\alpha}(\Omega_0, R^N)\), for any \(\alpha \in (0,1)\). If \(n=2\), then \(\Omega_0= \Omega\). If \(N=1\) or if \(f\) is of a special radial property \(f=g(x,| P| ^2)\) and the additional structure assumption \[ | D^2_P f(x,P)- D^2_P f(x,Q)| \leq c(1+| P| ^2++| Q| ^2 )^{\frac{q-2-\gamma}{2}}| P-Q| ^{\gamma}, \] with some \(0<\gamma<1\), then \(u\) is of class \(C^{1,\alpha}\) in the interior of \(\Omega\). Moreover some special case in which the condition \(u \in W^{1,q}_{\text{loc}}\) can be removed are studied by using the approche given by [\textit{G. Cupini, M. Guidorzi} and \textit{E. Mascolo}, Nonlinear Anal. 54, No. 4, 591--616 (2003; Zbl 1027.49032)].
