    Consider the \((2m+1)\)-dimensional unit sphere \(S^{2m+1}\) equipped with its standard Sasakian structure \((\phi,\xi,\eta,g)\). Let \(M\) be an \((n+1)\)-dimensional submanifold and denote by \(D_x\) the maximal \(\phi\)-invariant subspace of \(T_xM\) at \(x \in M\). Assume that \(\xi_x \in T_xM\) and \(\dim D_x = n-1\) for all \(x \in M\). Then \(M\) is said to be a contact CR submanifold of \(S^{2m+1}\) of contact dimension \(n-1\). Let \(U\) be a unit vector field tangent to \(M\) and perpendicular to \(\xi\) and \(D\) everywhere, and put \(N = \phi U\). Assume that \(N\) is parallel with respect to the normal connection of \(M\). For \(X \in TM\) denote by \(FX\) the component of \(\phi X\) that is tangent to \(M\). Let Ric be the Ricci tensor, \(\rho\) the scalar curvature, \(h\) the second fundamental form, \(\mu\) the mean curvature vector field of \(M\), and \(A\) the shape operator of \(M\) with respect to \(N\). The authors prove the following results. If (1) \(h(X,F Y) = h(F X,Y)\) for all \(X,Y \in TM\), or if (2) \(\text{Ric}(U,U) + \rho - (n+1)^2\| \mu\| ^2 + \| AU\| ^2 \geq n^2 + n -1\), then there exists a totally geodesic \(S^{n+2} \subset S^{2m+1}\) such that \(M \subset S^{n+2}\). Moreover, if (1) holds, then \(M\) is locally isometric to the Riemannian product \(S^{2n_1+1}(r_1) \times S^{2n_2+1}(r_2)\) for some \(n_1,n_2 \in {\mathbb N}\) with \(n_1 + n_2 = (n-1)/2\) and \(r_1,r_2 > 0\) with \(r_1^2 + r_2^2 = 1\). If (2) holds and \(M\) is compact, then \(M\) is isometric to \(S^{2n_1+1}(1/\sqrt{2}) \times S^{2n_2+1}(1/\sqrt{2})\).
