The author generalizes a previous result by Lakatos to a wider class of self-inversive polynomials: let \(P(x)=\sum_{j=0}^m A_jx^j\in {\mathbb{C}}[x]\), where \(A_m\not=0\) and \(A_{m-j}=\varepsilon \overline{A}_j\) for all \(j\leq m\) and a fixed \(\varepsilon\in\mathbb{C}\). If \[ | A_m| \geq \inf_{c,d\in{\mathbb{C}},| d| =1} \sum_{j=0}^m | cA_j-d^{m-j}A_m| \] then all zeros of \(P\) are on the unit circle. If the inequality is strict the zeros are simple.
