The paper deals with the ``lattice gas reversible under Bernoulli measure'' which is a special type of interacting particle system. In particular, the smoothness of diffusion coefficient with respect to the density of particles for a non-gradient type model is proved, which completes a previous result on the existence of the hydrodynamic limit for such model. The model studied is an infinite system of particles interacting by exclusion. The jump rate between two sites \(x\) and \(y\) is a function of the configuration and gives a general model of non-gradient type. The generator \(\mathcal {L}_N\) of the lattice gas on \(\Gamma _N\), the \(d\)-dimensional periodic lattice, is defined by \[ ({\mathcal {L}}_N f)(\eta ) = {1\over 2} \sum _{| x-y| =1}c_{x,y}(\eta )(\pi _{x,y}f)(\eta ), \] where \(\eta \) denotes a configuration of the state space \(\Omega _N = \{0,1\}^{\Gamma _N}\), \(f\) a function over \(\Omega _N = \{0,1\}^{\Gamma _N}\) and \(\pi _{x,y}\) the operator defined by \((\pi _{x,y}f)(\eta ) = f(\eta ^{x,y}) - f(\eta )\), where, as usual, \(\eta ^{x,y}\) is the configuration obtained from \(\eta \) by exchange of the sites \(x\) and \(y\). The diffusion coefficient is the matrix \(D(\rho )\) given by a Green-Kubo formula, namely, for a fixed \(l\in R^d\) \[ (l,D(\rho )l) = {1\over {4\chi (\rho )}} \inf _{F\in {\mathcal F}^d_0} \left \{\sum _{| x| =1} \left \langle c_{0,x}(\eta )\left (l,x(\eta _x -\eta _0)-\pi _{0,x}\left (\sum _{y} \tau _y F\right )\right )^2\right \rangle _ {\rho }\right \}, \] where \({\mathcal F}^d_0\) is the class of all local functions from \(\Omega _N = \{0,1\}^{\Gamma _N}\) into \(R^d\) and \(\chi (\rho )= \rho (1-\rho )\) is the compressibility. As the main result it is proved that \(D(\rho )\) is a \(C^\infty \) function of \(\rho \) on \([0,1]\).
