The authors present general error estimates for a class of finite element schemes for nonstationary thermal convection problems with temperature-dependent coefficients. The error estimates obtained in this paper are best possible except for the pressure in the time- or temperature-depended coefficient case. For the practical use the authors present finite element schemes with interpolated variable coefficients. Error estimates are also provided for schemes modified by approximate coefficients.
