Let \(A\) be a supplemented algebra over a commutative ring \(K\), and \(A_0\) be its augmentation ideal. If \(A \cong F/A\) where \(F\) is a free associative algebra with identity over \(K\), \textit{A. Fröhlich} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 109, 221--244 (1963; Zbl 0122.25702)] established the following analogue of the Hopf isomorphism in the homology of groups: \(\text{Tor}_2^A(K,K)\cong R\cap F_0^2/(RF_0+F_0R)\). This paper establishes similar formulae for \(\text{Tor}_n^A(K,K)\) when \(n\) is any positive integer and \(K\) is a field. The method of proof is to construct a suitable \(A\)-free resolution of \(K\), with the aid of a theorem of \textit{P. M. Cohn} [J. Algebra 1, 47--69 (1964; Zbl 0136.31204)] and a procedure used by \textit{K. W. Gruenberg} [J. Lond. Math. Soc. 35, 481--494 (1960; Zbl 0101.01601)] in the (co-)homology of groups. The construction is also applied to the (co-)homology of Lie algebras and of special Jordan algebras. For one proposition (1.5), there is an overlap with a recent paper by \textit{K. W. Gruenberg} [J. Lond. Math. Soc. 43, 239--241 (1968; Zbl 0155.05603)].
