A finite difference method to solve the modified Navier-Stokes equations is developed for two-dimensional viscous flows over simple configurations. The method uses the fractional steps technique (Yanenko N.N.) and is suited to nonuniform mesh systems. The nonlinear difference equation is solved by an iterative procedure. The stability properties and the computational efficiency of various elements of the algorithm are analyzed. Examples of calculated solutions and discussion of the results are given.
