In this paper the authors consider the slow motion of a viscous fluid near a corner of plane rigid walls when one of the walls moves parallel to itself, or a source or sink of fluid exists at the corner representing leakage at the wall intersection. Thus it represents extensions of work by \textit{G. K. Batchelor} [An introduction to fluid dynamics (1967; Zbl 0152.444); pp. 224-227] and \textit{H. K. Moffatt} [J. Fluid Mech. 18, 1-18 (1964; Zbl 0118.205)]. The actual problems solved relate to a non- Newtonian (power-law) fluid without leakage and a Newtonian fluid with a source at the corner. Similarity type solutions are obtained. In the former case it is found that the streamline pattern near the moving wall is much less affected by the power law exponent than that near the wall at rest and in the latter case for example, the angle at which the dividing streamline leaves the wall is obtained.
