The paper deals with minimum weight design of elastic structures under constraints imposed upon stresses, displacements and maximum and minimum cross-section dimensions. The structures may be designed from rolled profiles and sheets. The proposed method is based on the simultaneous solution of nonlinear equations and inequalities resulting from the Kuhn- Tucker necessary conditions for an optimal problem. These conditions constitute a set of bilinear forms and inequalities based on a standard stiffness matrix. Two numerical examples comparing results with nonlinear programming technique are given.
