The authors define a generalized form of an interative method due to themselves [ibid. 22, 256-263 (1980; Zbl 0434.65015)]. The method is applied to large sparse linear systems \(Au=b\) when A has a special form \((\sigma_ 1\)-ordered), and compared with the successive overrelaxation method.
