By space-time a four-manifold with a positive definite metric is meant. Such a space-time with self-dual curvature and a Killing field can be classified into one of two types according to the constancy or not of the difference of Newtonian and NUT potentials. Static ones are flat; stationary ones with a functional relation between the potentials are of type one, as are those for which the difference of potentials is regular. For type two, every regular compact level surface of the difference encloses the total NUT charge, which is proportional to the Euler number of the surface.
