Entrance region flow of the Bingham fluid in a circular pipe is investigated numerically, by omitting the usual preassigned parabolic form of the velocity profile within the developing boundary layer. By employing macroscopic mass and momentum balances the changes in velocity profile and pressure gradient are determined using numerical integration. The computed results for the velocity profile and pressure gradient near the entrance agree reasonably with previous solutions of the problems.
