An overview of the current state of reachability for linear and nonlinear, finite-dimensional, stationary continuous, dynamical systems is given. This theoretical material provides the basis for some interesting examples involving lake pollution, forest harvesting and fishery management which are also presented. Moreover, final conclusions on the practical use of reachability criteria are given. References contain 19 positions.
