This is a variation on the following well-known theme. Let G be a group with an invariant mean, E a Banach space and L:\(G\to {\mathcal L}(E)\) a representation. Suppose that all operators L(g) (\(g\in G)\) are isometries leaving invariant a fixed subspace \(F\subset E\). Suppose also that there is only one projection from E to F commuting with L. Then this projection is of minimal norm. The authors show that the minimality of projections mentioned in the title can be established using this scheme.
