For given operator polynomials A(s) and B(s) - one of which is assumed monic - necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the existence of operator polynomials C(s) and D(s) such that the equation \(A(s)C(s)+B(s)D(s)=I\) holds for all complex numbers s. Then, application to the problem of controllability of infinite-dimensional linear autonomous systems is made.
