Integral equations of the form \[ \int^{x}_{0}(x-y)^{\alpha - 1}k(x,y)f(y)dy=g(x) \] are considered, where \(0\leq x\leq 1\) and \(0<\alpha <1\), \(\alpha\) fixed, k Lipschitz-continuous, k(x,x)\(\neq 0\). After clarifying what he means by stability and robustness the author shows these two notions to be equivalent. After showing that for a particular numerical method of the type investigated any equation of the above described general form may be used as a test equation he analyses quadrature-collocation methods, in particular the midpoint method, the trapezoidal method, and implicit backward difference product integration methods. He also presents results of a numerical case study. The norm used is the supremum-norm.
