The result of this paper is based on a book of \textit{J. A. Green} [Polynomial representations of \(GL_ n\) (1980; Zbl 0451.20037)]. If n and r are positive integers and \(\lambda\) a partition of r with at most n parts, then for each infinite field K Green defines a simple module \(M_{\lambda}\) for the Schur algebra \(S_ k(n,r)\). If char K\(=p>0\) one may ask for the defect group of \(M_{\lambda}\). Here this question is answered when \(\lambda\) is a hook partition.
