We give a characterization of set-valued mappings from a topological (measure) space into the class of real non-empty intervals admitting a continuous (measurable) selection. As an application we obtain a characterization of set-valued functions defined on \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\) admitting an approximately continuous or an approximately continuous and almost everywhere continuous selection.
