This note is concerned with a natural dynamical system with n degrees of freedom and analytic Hamiltonian \(H(x,y)=K(x,y)+\Pi (x),\) where \(K(x,y)=a^{ij}(x)y_ iy_ j\) is the kinetic energy and \(\Pi\) (x) the potential energy. It is shown, by using a direct method of expanding solutions of the Hamiltonian-Jacobi equation in power-series, that, when the (analytic) potential energy is nondegenerate and has a local maximum in the equilibrium position, then there exists an analytic solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation at the zero level of the total energy \(H(x,y)=h\).
