It is very well known that the zeros of most orthogonal polynomials on \([-1,1]\) are asymptotically distributed according to the arcsin law on [- 1,1]. This paper studies the rate of convergence for this asymptotic behaviour for orthogonal polynomials in the Szegö class and for Pollaczek polynomials and the result actually gives a strong Szegö limit theorem. The same method is shown to work also for orthogonal polynomials on infinite intervals but then one investigates ''contracted'' zeros, as is shown by means of generalized Hermite polynomials.
