This article concerns the stress distribution in an homogeneous isotropic elastic hemisphere embedded in another semi-infinite homogeneous isotropic elastic medium when a rigid circular disc is clamped to the plane face of the hemisphere and the stresses are caused by the rotation of annular disc through an angle \(\beta\). The solution of the problem leads to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind in one function. Finally the numerical values of torque are obtained by solving the Fredholm integral equation of the second kind and are illustrated graphically.
